Lisbon is known as the city of the 7 hills. It is therefore not a flat place at all and the hikes can be big and intense. However, every time we reach the top of one of the hills we know that if it was hard, it was worth it.
The highest one is where St. George's Castle is placed. And the view is magnificent… It definitely deserves a hike to the top.
There, you can find a very important door, in which the knight Martim Moniz sacrificed his life preventing its closure for the recapture of the castle by D. Afonso Henriques with the help of his crusaders. You can certainly feel and relive the history and stories this place tells.
It's always good to take a little history with us. Here, between these walls, take some time to relax... linger ... contemplate the city from its highest point.
